  1. Automatic install process fails:  Should the install program provided fail 
  2. for any reason, follow the procedure for manually installing the program 
  3. given below.
  4.  
  5. 1. Copy the files ceo.exe and ceo.hlp to your Windows directory.  Copy the 
  6. file ceo_man.ini to your Windows directory and then rename it to ceo.ini.  
  7. Copy the files bwcc.dll and ceotools.dll to your Windows systems directory. 
  8. If you already have a copy of bwcc.dll, you should check the version dates 
  9. of both copies and use the latest version.

  11. 2. Create a subdirectory of your Windows directory called CEO.   Note this 
  12. step may be skipped.  Any existing directory may be used instead.
  13.  
  14. 3. Copy the files ceo.icl, ceo.fl2, grpconv.exe and smutils.exe to the CEO
  15. data directory created in step 2.
  16.  
  17. 4. Edit the file ceo.ini in the following manner using a text editor such as 
  18. Notepad.  Under the section name [Folders Directory] edit the path= line to 
  19. read:
  20.      path=<directory>\ 
  21. where  <directory> is the directory created in step 2.  Note the backslash 
  22. at the end of the name.  An example line would be: path=c:\windows\ceo\
  23.  
  24. 5. If you want to use CEO as the shell, edit the system.ini file with a text
  25. editor.  In the first ten lines or so, find the line which reads:
  26.         shell=<program name>
  27. where <program name> is the name of your current shell.  Change the line 
  28. to read: shell=ceo.exe
  29. Save the file and exit the editor.

  31. 6.  You may convert and install your Program Manager groups into CEO at this 
  32. point.  Run the program grpconv.exe located in your CEO data directory.  Select
  33. the group you wish to import into CEO from the list.  Click on OK.  Repeat
  34. this procedure for each group to be imported.

  36. 7. Finally, from the File Manager, using the Associate command under the 
  37. File menu, associate ceo.exe with FL2 files.
  38.  
  39. That's it.  You should now be able to run CEO as you would any program.  Or, 
  40. if installed as the shell, simply restart Windows.
